Partnering to build a world where women accused of witchcraft, street children and other less privileged in society are supported and treated with care, dignity and respect
Tayan was born in November, 2023 as a Non-Governmental Organization. It works as a local indigenous and social oriented organization, Tayan lbg, under the laws of Ghana, located in the North East Region, Gambaga and sponsored by D&S Foundation USA
Our interaction with some chiefs in the Northern Regions, we noticed there is little collaboration between Traditional Rulers, Fate Based Organizations and Local Government Authorities, which has created a gap and allowed accusations of alleged witches, forced marriages among children, abandoned children with disabilities and many other deviants’ social behaviors in society. In line with the above challenges, there is therefore the need to form and register Tayan lbg Foundation to speak and advocate against these and many other old traditional practices.
VISION STATEMENT
A society where people are free from Witchcraft Accusations, Brutalities, Banishment, Injustice and ignorance but feels worthy of themselves in social and Economic Development as life becomes meaningful.
MISSION STATEMENT
To work with individuals, Traditional Authorities, groups and communities within the East Mamprusi, Bunkprugu- Yunyoo, Karaga, Yendi and Gushegu Districts and beyond to empower the venerable in tackling poverty related issues. This will be done in partnership with other developmental organizations who share the same core values as we do.
PHILOSOPHY (METHODOLOGY)
D&S believes in the participatory approach to development. The organization works with Traditional Authorities, Individuals, Groups and communities to analyze their own situations/Challenges and explore alternative ways of solving these collectively using techniques that are familiar with local residence.
